It was an accident!
Sorry for the re-post but i thought it was interesting to show the process of this image i did for a workshop about Visual Storytelling in a Montreal artschool.
The goal of this exercice was to set a clear action, telling a story only with images and i expected from my student some nice illustrations.
The final image, i came back to my story. For that i restarted half of the female character and add another one to reinforce the drama.
Its still sketchy for an illustration but now i have an image with a clear story.
This one was a fail because the foreground character doesnt tell any story more interesting than before, but i would like to test another angle for the head... quite lost on the painting at this step.
3rd step, i worked my colors and lightings.. was my final look while a moment but something wasnt right enough... the female character looks ready to start an adventure but not angry enough as i was looking for...
2nd step, i defined the line it a little bit more and reinforce the narrative aspect. Now we have 2 characters surviving a crash. One of them is sorry because of the situation..
First sketch, my idea was to set a jungle planet scene with an heroic female character.
